Workers’ Compensation Advisory Council

2007 Legislative Proposal

1. Increase the maximum compensation rate from $750 to $850 on 10/1/07.

2. Increase the maximum duration of temporary total disability from 104 to 130 weeks.

3. Limit the maximum payment for surgical implants in the eleven county metro area to a cost-plus approach, 50% for $1 to $500 of invoiced cost, 30% for $501 to $1000, and 25% for more than $1000.

4. Pay all inpatient and outpatient services, not covered by the fee schedule, at hospitals in the eleven-county metro area the aggregate private-sector payment-to-charge ratio for those hospitals plus a workers’ compensation premium of 15%.

5. Allow efficient and cost-neutral updating of service and billing codes to reflect annual changes. Pay out-of-state providers the same as non-metro in-state providers for all services.

6. Remove section 176.669 from statute as it is no longer relevant.

7. Allow for the use of an employee identification number in addition to and/or instead of the employee social security number to identify workers’ compensation claims.

8. Extend the time period for filing a retraining plan from 156 to 208 weeks
